Position Summary:

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington seeks professionals to assist in fundraising programs supporting:

  • Diocesan Programs and Ministries
  • Catholic Charities and High School Programs
  • Parishes and Elementary Schools

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

Professionals with excellent interpersonal and communications skills are desired with experience in the below areas:

  • Capital Campaigns/Annual Appeals
  • Planned Giving/Major Gifts
  • Foundations/Grant Work
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of planned giving.  Ability to organize, create, and implement fundraising efforts using marketing techniques.  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Creativity, decision making, discretion, teamwork, negotiation, independent judgment, problems analysis and public relations skills are required.  Must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities. Strong human relations skills to interact with diocesan officials, pastors, parishioners and business and corporate representatives are required.  Incumbent must also be competitive and resourceful in an organization that has an infinite amount of needs and a finite amount of financial resources.  Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications, especially Word, Excel and Access.  Basic math skills and knowledge of database software, calculator, basic computer skills and office equipment are required.
  • B.S. or B.A. required in finance, communications or marketing.  Continuing education is required to maintain knowledge of tax codes affecting charitable giving
  • Five to more years professional development experience, preferably planned giving or overseeing communications and marketing.  Experience with direct mail and advertising programs for planned giving preferred.  A strong knowledge of the Catholic Church organization and procedures is required; a practicing Catholic is preferred.
