Welcoming the Stranger
The Office of Multicultural Ministries strives to serve the pastoral needs of the various ethnic communities within the Diocese of Arlington. Northern Virginia is rich in its diversity and the Diocese is constantly working to strengthen numerous ethnic ministries throughout the region. The Office of Multicultural Ministries supports a variety of events, convocations, growth and programs designed to promote effectiveness and accessibility of ministries within the Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, African, Brazilian, and Indian American communities.
The Office of Multicultural Ministries is foremost a center for outreach and evangelism, to connect and serve the different ethnic ministries within the Diocese of Arlington. We endeavor to meet the goals established through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' effort entitled, Welcoming the Stranger Among Us, Unity and Diversity.
- To promote the call to a conversion that welcomes new immigrants and assists them to join communities in ways respectful to their cultures in ways that enrich the immigrants and our Church.
- To promote a call to communion to strengthen understanding among cultures through intercultural communication on the diocesan and parish levels.
- To promote solidarity which recognizes the human dignity of today's immigrants.
