Overview:

The Office of Youth Ministry has been working hard for the past year on logistics surrounding a Diocesan Pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Spain! We are excited about this global event that will be happening in Augurst 2011 and are even more excited about bringing the youth of our Diocese together to share in this experience.  An information meeting was held in early February 2010 explaining the cost breakdowns, a tentative payment schedule and both pilgrimage itineraries. Important Information on Passports: Please apply for a new passport or renew your passport in 2010! If your passport expires before December 2011, please renew it now! The passport offices were overwhelmed and backlogged in the months leading up to WYD in Sydney. Please check the spelling of your full name on your passport application and that it matches your name on your government-issued ID (Driver's License, State ID etc.)

A Final Payment Schedule will be issued to all stakeholders in September 2010. (A tentative payment schedule was given out at the February 2010 meeting in which the dates and amounts have since changed).

With an overwhelming response, we have signed up over 200 pilgrims for this next WYD! We are still be able to add people on a first-come/ first-serve basis. Please call 703-841-2559.

Any parish or school that plans to pilgrim with the Diocese will need to complete a Stakeholder Covenant (to the left) along with a $700 deposit for each pilgrim attending the EXTENDED pilgrimage. This is due on or before September 20th. A $300 deposit will be required on or before September 20th for any pilgrim wanting to attend just WYD week.

For parishes that have already signed up, you can still have teens and young adults join your group... the above deposits apply

We are securing our airfare at the end of September. Send your deposit and pilgrim number as soon as possible.
