May 15th: 8th Annual BASH
Over 500 junior high students from the Diocese of Arlington will gather at Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School, Dumfries, for the 8th Annual BASH. This year, 321 Improv, a group that focuses on glorifying the Lord through comedy, will entertain the students and the keynote speaker Scott Anthony, a former parishioner at Saint John, Warrenton, will discuss the 2010 youth ministry theme, “Hope in Him.” A Vigil Mass celebrated by Rev. Matthew Zuberbueler will be the pinnacle of this exciting day. Last year’s event drew young teens from 40 out of 68 parishes in the Arlington Diocese. For more information, visit here.
May 17th-21st: 18th Annual Shakespeare Festival
The Office of Catholic Schools will sponsor the annual Shakespeare Festival at Paul VI High School, Fairfax, from May 17th-21st. Students from 20 diocesan schools will prepare Shakespearean medleys and plays. This festival gives students a chance to showcase their talents, learn from watching others perform and study practical skills such as public elocution. May 22nd: Over 250 Adults to be Confirmed on Pentecost
Pentecost is the feast which signifies the end of the Easter season and celebrates the founding of the Church. This Pentecost, over two hundred and fifty adults will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, the final sacrament of full initiation into the Catholic Church. Bishop Paul S. Loverde will celebrate this sacrament which confers the gifts of the Holy Spirit at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas More, Arlington.
